Analogy in Daily Life

Analogy in Daily Life

God created humans in all shapes and sizes with unique metabolisms. There are some who gain weight at a bullet train speed even if they inhale deeply while some don't gain even a single pound after eating like an ogre ! Seems like pure injustice.

This question must have occurred in everyone's mind. We all know many such contrasting souls in our circle. This write up sparked off when I told my learned friends my wisdom pearls using a metaphor.

Scenario 1

My friend's spouse is super fit with a lean built, has sensitive gut. Seasonal illness leads to gut revolt. And my friend's worries start. During one such episode, my friend wailed, " He is not eating properly and is looking weak."

"Oh dear! remember your spouse has a current account. You need to make appetizing dishes to sustain his current balance/ stamina. Else, he will feel famished. There is no saving's account or FD in his body," I replied.

" What do you mean ? account, FD ? kya bol rahi hai ?" , she replied in an impatient, annoying tone.

"Look ! there is no stored fat. Stored fat is like a savings account or maybe an FD (fixed deposit). We have sufficient such balance and our bodies can survive even if there is no deposit for a couple of days. Your spouse needs to make a daily deposit to maintain the current balance, meaning stamina," I patiently replied. This metaphor instantly clicked with my business-mind friend. We both started laughing out loud.

Scenario 2

Another of my learned friend said, " Whenever, I gain extra pounds and am happy about it, my gut starts revolting and I come back to my original weight." This person is also super fit with a figure to die for. She wants to put on a few kgs whereas I want to shed few. This war is going once since few years.

" Hey!, you seems to have an in-built auto-cut. As and when you gain, your brain triggers the auto-cut and the extra goes away. You are God's favourite obviously as you have been born with an auto-cut. Now who gets such mechanisms ?", I replied in a calm way trying to hide my disappointment of not being blessed.

My friend smiled, " I was upset with my gut revolt. You have given me a new perspective. I like this as it helps me in accepting my gut issue."

It's important to use the right metaphors to live a happy life.

Stay tuned for a MIND MAKEOVER workshop on 5th February, 2025

Netflix Movie Review: Mother of the Bride

Netflix Movie Review: Mother of the Bride

North Indian winters, cold January month, birds have flown from the nest and mummy (that's me!) has lot of time on her hand besides her profession. I do full justice to title given by TOI Times of India " Radiologist by Day: Author by Night." I create time from my Literary and social work, to watch movies with good content. One such is "Mother of the Bride" on Netflix, I watched last evening. A romantic movie year of release 2024, duration: 1 hour 30 minutes. Brooke Shields, sensational beauty of her time is one of the producers.

This movie as the name suggests is about relationship between a mother and her daughter Emma. Their emotions, after Emma gets engaged to be married to her boyfriend RJ. Its a light-heart romantic watch.

The best moments are from 57:20- 1:02:05 timings, a 4 minute 45 second scene which showcases both mother -daughter emotions. Daughter's feelings of insecurities about her mother always an edge up from her - in terms of looks, confidence, decision making etc. Her feelings of resentment towards her mother, mixed with love, hatred, and forgiveness. Mother's emotions are delicately handled too. One needs to watch this movie from 57:20 duration.

Bride's mother crisp speech to the newly- wed is straight from the heart (which every mother conveys) -

- Never give up on love.

- Never give up on each other

- Never give up on happily ever after.

- Never one against other, always both         versus the situation.

I resonate immensely with never giving up on happily ever after, which I refer to as 'The family portrait frame ' which under all circumstances should be intact. All said and done , it's a good watch.

Whose your purple ?

Whose your purple ?

Of late, I have heard this term a lot especially from teenagers and young adults. One of my friend's daughter said " Aunty, I purple you !" I replied , " Sunshine, I red you." And we broke into a hearty laughter. Red color symbolise pure love. What does purple symbolise ?

For the unversed, " I Purple You" phrase was made by BTS V in the year 2016. Back then, V explained that this meant , " I will trust and love you for a long time." Therefore, purple is not just a color, rather a representation of love between BTS and ARMY members. It is an extremely popular South Korean boy band. BTS was formed by Bang Si-Hyuk, a successful songwriter and music producer who established his own studio Big Hit Entertainment, in 2005. Later he assembled a group of talented boys , calling them Bangtan Sonyeodan ( Bulletproof Boys Scouts) which later became better known as BTS

Purple is somebody who came into your life and made it better by simply being there. They make you feel good and your life wouldn't be the same without them. They may be your colleague who understands you, celebrates your victories and offers support during your setback time. A person with a kind heart and compassion who simply enhances one's life by being there. A person one is most comfortable with, who love you for just because you are YOU.

To all my readers, " I purple you!"

Identify your purple person.I would love to hear your views in comments section.
