The Price of Asking!

The Price of Asking, the Grace of Giving

Juju’s Pearls | Momsie Popsie Diary

Nobody tells you that even a professionally accomplished woman can sometimes find herself asking for money in her own home.

Not for shopping sprees or extravagant indulgences, but for groceries, household expenses, and the education of children who may be adults today but will always need their parents’ support.

And sometimes, the asking hurts more than the absence of money. The explanations, the humiliation, the subtle reminders of who pays for what can make a woman feel strangely small in a life she has helped build.

Then comes the familiar refrain: “I do everything for the children, yet they fight with me. You are always their favourite.”

Perhaps love isn't a competition. Perhaps children turn to one parent for comfort and the other for guidance, and both roles matter in ways that cannot be measured.

At this stage of life, I am learning that marriage isn't about keeping score. It is about sharing responsibility without making the other person feel indebted for belonging.

I still choose gratitude over bitterness, conversation over resentment, and hope over hurt. But I am also learning that dignity is not a luxury a woman must earn.

Because a woman can be grateful for her family, proud of her profession, and still wish that asking for her family's needs should never make her feel like a stranger in her own home.

With love, a little wisdom, and a heart still choosing hope — Juju’s Pearls.
