The Woman Between Two Homes!

Many a times, I am labelled as being over sensitive or over thinker. I really don't get these terms. My thinking and sensitivity is a part of me. If I feel, means I am human and very much alive. This brew is from one of such thoughts-

There comes a point in a woman’s life when she pauses at an invisible crossroads and asks herself a question she has spent years avoiding.

Where do I truly belong?

The family she was born into slowly becomes a place where she measures her words, hesitates before calling, and wonders whether she can still share her heart without reservations.

The family she married into never quite becomes her family. She is present, she participates, she adjusts, she gives. Yet somewhere within that close-knit circle, she remains the one who is included in the gathering but never quite in the inner circle.

And then there is her marriage.

She watches her spouse communicate freely with siblings, share conversations, exchange confidences, and nurture those bonds. Yet the very person who shares her home, her life, her history, sometimes remains the person with whom communication feels most distant.

And she wonders.

Not out of jealousy. Not because she wishes to claim every conversation or every relationship. But because she longs for the simple comfort of being someone's first circle, not merely the person standing at its edge.

Perhaps her greatest mistake was not loving too much, but believing that love would automatically create belonging.

She invested so deeply in her marriage that, somewhere along the way, the roots connecting her to her own family became fragile. She nurtured the branches of another family, hoping that one day they would offer her shade. But the tree had its own inner circles, its own familiar roots, its own definition of us.

And she was never quite sure where she fitted in.

So here she stands, emotionally homeless in a life that looks perfectly settled from the outside.

A wife. A daughter. A sister. A woman who has fulfilled so many roles, yet occasionally wonders whether there is a space where she can simply be herself—without permission, performance, or the fear of being misunderstood.

Maybe belonging was never meant to be a competition between families. Maybe it was never about choosing one set of people over another.

Maybe it was about having at least one relationship where she didn't have to audition for acceptance.

And perhaps the journey ahead is not about finding another circle to enter, but about rebuilding the one within herself.

Because a woman can love her husband without abandoning her roots. She can respect her in-laws without spending a lifetime trying to earn a place at their inner table. She can love her siblings while accepting that some relationships may no longer offer the intimacy she once imagined.

And she can begin to belong to herself.

Perhaps the most important home a woman must rediscover is the one she carries within her.

Until then, she stands at the crossroads—not because she has nowhere to go, but because she is finally learning that she need not spend the rest of her life begging for a place where she belongs.
